Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Rambot (talkcontribs) 01:18, 28 July 2003 (UTC)[reply]

Removed fifty largest US cities template from the article

[edit]

Whatever else Montgomery, AL may have going for it, it is not one of the 50 largest cities in the United States. --12.159.132.170 09:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neighborhoods

[edit]

Is there a reason the neighborhoods section only lists capitol heights? Do we need a list of neighborhoods? Pholower (talk) 20:03, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

More depth about Neighborhoods

[edit]

This article only reflects on the positive side of Montgomery. There needs to be a West Montgomery section or just talking about the rougher sides of the city.

Show some truth

[edit]

Reading this article will have visitors & tourist thinking Montgomery is the safest place in the World. Needs to add a list of neighborhoods or areas. The good & bad so people will know what's safe & what's not. And possibly a list of past & present Housing projects like other cities? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.54.64.206 (talk) 16:41, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Population in 1850

[edit]

According to footnote no. 59 on page 510 of this journal article, the commonly-cited figure of 8,728, which comes from the 1853 abstract of the 1850 census, is incorrect. This source states that U.S. Census reports from 1850 give a number of 4,728, while a local census taken from 1849 gave a figure of 4,633. I've also come across gazetteers from the 1850s which give similar numbers — J.D.B. DeBow's Statistical View of the United States (1854) gives a figure of 4,935 (pg. 369), while R.S. Fisher's A New and Complete Statistical Gazetteer (1855) gives a figure of 4,957 (pg. 507). From all this, I'm led to believe that the census figure of 4,728 is the correct number for 1850, and that the previously-used number of 8,728 was simply an unfortunate typographical error on the part of the U.S. Census. Racial breakdown of cities?

[edit]

Why aren’t the racial breakdown of cities not listed high to low? Example: Montgomery, Alabama is majority African-American but is listed 2nd to the lower the white percentage? Showing bias????? 2601:803:C600:7830:0:0:0:E351 (talk) 23:48, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Demographics

[edit]

Demographics section should list population of city proper, not the metropolitan area. Mirza Ahmed (talk) 20:45, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The caption for the flag in the Infobox incorrectly links to the flag of a county in Maryland. Since I'm still fairly new to editing, I'm not entirely sure how to fix this, so if someone who knows how could do it, that'd be great. Thanks Woakey (talk) 09:21, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong image for the seal

[edit]

The provided image is just a logo, the seal is a 'Six-pointed star containing the words "Cradle of the Confederacy," Birth Place of the Civil Rights Movement" and "City of Montgomery."' source 199.80.8.106 (talk) 16:51, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
