early work on page
[edit]I wrote a page, which was then merged with another one of a slightly different name. I recognized the text of that other page as lifted directly from a website I consulted in preparing the article. Therefore I deleted some things and changed others. I don't Wikipedia to get in trouble for plagiarism. Zora 10:24, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I think all nominations should be included on this page.
Image
[edit]I think the image of "1977" awards function is actually from the 1978 awards-- the only year in which Amitabh Bachchan and Shabana Azmi, both, won awards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.174.65.23 (talk) 19:53, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Notice
[edit]The south Filmfare Awards cannot be mentioned in the lead. The lead is here to introduce the subject it deals with. This article is about the Filmfare Awards, not Filmfare Awards South. Describe the latter in its separate article. It is of course mentioned here but it is as far as it should go.
As for this line -- "The Filmfare Awards have been often referred to as Hindi film industry's equivalent of the Oscar." -- it is perfectly sourced and no one says it is the equivalent of the Oscars, but is referred to as such. Shahid • Talk2me 20:36, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- That was really crazy. BTW, this article needs work on the sources. Most are dead. Maybe you can find them on archive? BollyJeff || talk 00:45, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Records
[edit]Some anons, who are probably the same person keep filling the page with unjustified additions, like adding actors who have won 4 awards while the record stands at 8 awards for male actors and 6 awards for female actors. This may be the person's will to add his favourite star though I would not like to speculate, but anyway, this is not worthy of being mentioned since it's far from being a record. Additionally, the addition of most awards to a single person is quite vague since it's clearly unverified and there may be many other artists who have won an equal, or bigger, number of Filmfare Awards and have not been mentioned. I believe a discussion may clear this out and then, after proper examination, this can be added. Shahid • Talk2me 23:50, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well yes! Discussion would be good. But seems that you havent had any response on Single Person with Most wins. We should find it out & have it on this page. My count gives Gulzar with 19 wins in 7 different categories (Mentioned & Verified on Gulzar's page).-Animeshkulkarni (talk) 11:40, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
- It can then go in Did You Know -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 15:08, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Is this rare or only i feel so? If rare, should this go in the article?
Award | Actor/Actress | Category | Film | Result |
---|---|---|---|---|
17th Filmfare Awards | Ashok Kumar | Filmfare Award for Best Actor | Aashirwad | Won |
Ashok Kumar | Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor | Aashirwad | Nominated | |
25th Filmfare Awards | Kamal Hassan | Filmfare Award for Best Actor | Saagar | Won |
Kamal Hassan | Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor | Saagar | Nominated | |
33rd Filmfare Awards | Rakhee | Filmfare Award for Best Actress | Doosra Aadmi | Nominated |
Rakhee | Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress | Doosra Aadmi | Nominated |
-Animeshkulkarni (talk) 08:31, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- I honestly feel it's a mistake. I think they've mistaken the names of Ashok Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar for Best Supporting Actor for Aashirwad, and Neetu Singh for Doosra Aadmi. Shahid • Talk2me 10:18, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Is Kamal Hassan's info right then? Got [1] and [2] for his entries. & if Filmfare does so for Hassan, there are chances they did for other two too. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 11:27, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- This happened again! Is this also typo or what? Raaj Kumar got nominated for Filmfare Best Actor Award as well as Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role of Moti in film Kaajal! -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 10:52, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- I wish we had some way to check it. Will have to look for it in books. Shahid • Talk2me 21:25, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- Something wrong! I had a presumption that these Awards are given in the next year. Means for a film released in 1971, the award will be given in 1972. Am i right? But i came across some weird thing. 30th Filmfare Awards i.e. the award ceremony held in Sept '83 felicitated the films released in 1982. But Masoom (1983 film) received Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie in this ceremony. Whereas other awards for this film were bagged in 31st Filmfare Awards. Where is the catch? -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 14:36, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Different awards & retired awards
[edit]There have been various awards given under the Filmfare Award ceremony to Marathi and Bengali films. No such mention seen on main article page. Few awards are no more given. No mention of those too. Requesting experts on this article to add these things. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 13:40, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, Begali and Marathi awardees did not get enough coverage in the press. Shahid • Talk2me 15:25, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Merge List of Filmfare Awards records to this article, as it has not enough material for a stand-alone article. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 07:24, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- Support - per Armbrust. —Vensatry (Ping me) 08:36, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
CommentSupport - Most of the info is was in this article before, and was moved to the current sub-article location. Now we want to move it back? Why are we playing musical chairs with this? BollyJeff | talk 00:16, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Seems it was done unilaterally by User:ToMaS786 (a sock puppet) with this edit on July 6th, so I am changing my vote to Support. BollyJeff | talk 13:20, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - Why was it moved to a new page when the main article is too small. —Vensatry (Ping me) 05:05, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Records
[edit]It has already been discussed by me with different users as regards the critics awards and their relevance in the counting of records for actors. So, according to me they should not be considered and they are pretty much a section of their own. First, they were created in the 1990s, several decades after the awards were established and so most of the actors could not even compete for them. Secondly, these are not competitive awards and they are announces in the year of the ceremony. Thirdly, there are other acting awards like Best Villain and Best Comedian which for some reason were not couted in by the anon who'd added them. Moreover, there have been special awards given throughout the years. Jaya Bachchan, for instance, was awarded the Special Performance award twice, once for Uphaar and once for Hazaar Churasi KI Maa. So she ends up being the overall record holder when clearly it is the main awards that actually count. I think records of this sort are more relevant on the actors' articles. Shahid • Talk2me 02:44, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Records and facts are organized with the Critics Awards there as well. So why the bias here? Why don't you change the facts everywhere because of your convenience. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.48.206.18 (talk) 03:40, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- I think it definitely should be changed in every other page, I cannot go and do it in all of them, why don't you do it yourself if you've seen it? Go ahead. Shahid • Talk2me 23:28, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
Well, why should I? If you are so concerned and so angst about it, you should do it yourself and make sure it stays that way. Because I disagree with you. The Critics award has been given out for more than 25 years now and it never skips a year. It's a major part of Filmfare Awards and should be given importance just like it is becoming a norm in every other award show now following the Filmfare feat. So we should keep it relevant because it compares the jury choice vs. viewer's choice which is the popular choice [which is based more on which movie was the biggest hit and therefore the award is given to the lead if the role was substantial enough]. So in theory, the Critics award is more valuable because it's given based more on acting ability rather than just box office status. And if you are comparing acting awards, this category should be included since its main purporse is to award people for their acting. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.48.206.18 (talk) 03:40, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Controversy section
[edit]I just recently noticed there is no controversy section on this page as per Wikipedia's neutrality guideline, having one would be better. FlyingNinja1 (talk) 05:08, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
- I agree, but the case added is not a controversy really, just one actor's rant, and the actor does not even specifically mention Filmfare but all award functions. We all know that Filmfare is just one of many award functions, all of which are pretty much the same in this regard. There's much more one could do for such a section. Let's gather sources which criticize Filmfare and add an informative criticism section and not just for the sake of it. Shahid • Talk2me 09:49, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
KK, Shahid, I found two in the Filmfare 2019- Badhaai Ho writer was discredited and another person who allegedly didn't write the script was added instead of her. Paid awards and Nepotism Check them out and let's reach a consensus. Looking forward to more collaboration FlyingNinja1 (talk) 11:48, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks @Fowler&fowler P.S. We meet again :) Looking forward to more collaboration FlyingNinja1 (talk) 12:56, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
Split proposal
[edit]I propose that List of Filmfare Award Records be created based on the template of List of Academy Award Records as it can know form a standalone article. Zon (talk) 23:06, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
"actress"
[edit]I'm not in a position to research this fully, but a quick check of the most recent awards shows that "actress" is no longer used ("Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female)"). https://www.filmfare.com/awards/filmfare-awards/winners . The table seems specific enough that it may convey the wrong impression about the actual award names.Danchall (talk) 11:54, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
