German Title

[edit]

I changed the German title from "Der Gemalte Vogel" to the correct "Der bemalte Vogel". Explanation: The title is a reference to a living bird, being "decorated" with colors. The old (and false) title would mean a Bird painted on paper. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.252.81.235 (talk) 03:17, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why does the title appear in German translation here at all? --Deborahjay (talk) 16:24, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There doesn't seem to be a good reason to translate the title into German, so I've removed it. Regards, Orange Suede Sofa (talk) 15:45, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

citation of Lem

[edit]

The article currently reads Polish author and critic Stanisław Lem wrote in 2002 a review of "The Painted Bird", which he titled "The Career of a Counterfeit" (Polish: Kariera falsyfikatu). The citation links to [1], but the citation there is clearly of a reprinted edition of the book in which that essay appears. That book, Filozofia przypadku, was first published in 1968, but pl:Filozofia przypadku, which for some reason includes the full table of contents of each edition, shows "Kariera falsyfikatu" only in the 1988 edition, which has a more detailed table of contents than the previous ones. Whether this means that the review of Kosiński was added only in that edition, or whether it was first published in the first edition, or whether it was first published in some other place and time and was reprinted in Filozofia przypadku, I cannot now discover; but in any case it was written earlier than 2002, so I am removing that date from the quoted passage of the article. - LaetusStudiis (talk) 22:36, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
