Parent company Blue Enterprises

[edit]

Blue Origin, LLC is this companies official name in all news broadcasts and on NASA public grant information on Crunchbase.

Dropping this link here as context for other readers, as there was a discussion about this on my user page and it may be relevant if edits over the name continue: User talk:DefaultFree/Archives/2023#Hi Mr Default Free DefaultFree (talk) 23:09, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I went through the discussion on DefaultFree's talk page and this version of the page looks fair to me. Per WP:NCCORP#First sentence, we begin the article with the full legal name of the company. This has been Blue Origin, LLC for a while since founding. Businesses over time grow and as American Diabetio pointed for legal purposes they create some subsidiaries and then there are subsidiaries created out of acquisitions. While this page is still primarily about Blue Origin LLC, once a holding company is created, and the holding company is not independently notable to have its own page, the preference is to specify the holding companies legal name because this page still talks about operations in Alabama and Texas, which *now* belong to a different legal entity than Blue Origin, LLC (i.e. Blue Origin Alabama, LLC, Blue Origin Texas, LLC, etc. which are subsidiaries of the holding company)
The company's Privacy Policy, which DefaultFree has already included as a reference, states we at Blue Origin Enterprises, L.P. and our subsidiaries and affiliated companies, including Blue Origin, LLC,... (referred together as "Blue Origin") makes this clear. Reliable sources may conflict, but what the company says on its own page (which is also timestamped) should be considered golden (I have seen sources like The New York Times get something as basic as X Corp. and X Holdings Corp. mixed up while Twitter, Inc. became defunct, even when the legal document clearly distinguishes the two.) That said, I don't have an issue if others feel Blue Origin, LLC should stay. Ptrnext (talk) 04:28, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good evening,
I agree with your stance on the matter. What do you think about adding the phrase "commonly refer to as Blue Origin". This companies article could match that of the SpaceX's intro as both companies seem to have complex names.

American Diabetio, I don't feel strongly one way or the other. SpaceX needs it because the trade name is not contained in the legal name as there is contraction (Exploration -> X) involved. Here we have Blue Origin which is contained in Blue Origin Enterprises, L.P, so just having the trade name in the infobox appears to be sufficient; but I'm fine if you think adding the phrase in the lead paragraph helps. ok, Thx. American Diabetio (talk) 03:20, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

President vs. CEO

[edit]

The history section says: "Rob Meyerson joined the company in 2003 and served as the CEO..."; however, Rob's title was President, not CEO, as indicated in citation 14. Bob Smith was the company's first CEO. It is not clear what distinction the company makes between the roles, but the citation does state Bob was the "first official CEO". 97.126.15.160 (talk) 02:13, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
